Have you spent too much time in the sun, and now it’s taking a toll on your skin? Turn back time with the Palomar Starlux® photo-rejuvenation treatment, and discover renewed, vibrant skin. This treatment is indicated for hyperpigmentation (sun spots) and vascular areas (redness). It evens out the color of the skin, smoothing out red and brown spots. The areas usually treated are the face, neck, hands, arms, back, legs and other areas exposed to the sun. The Palomar Starlux® photorejuvenation treatment is also used along with other treatments like the Palomar Starlux® 1540 and 1440 fractional skin resurfacing.
Your provider will move the handpiece over your skin, pulsing regularly. Each pulse will send a beam of light through your skin. A flashing light, an audible tone and a mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the handpiece is being pulsed.
Immediately after treatment, you can expect some mild redness to your skin and the sensation of heat. This usually lasts 2 to 24 hours.
Sun spots and sun damage: the sun spots will darken after treatment and will naturally shed from the skin within 1 to 2 weeks.
Typically, a few visits will be necessary to treat sun spots, rosacea and vessels.
Unwanted hair can make you feel unattractive and self conscious about your appearance. Why not feel more confident by removing it? With our state-of-the art Palomar Starlux® laser hair removal system, you can rid yourself of unwanted hair. The Palomar hair removal system emits pulses of light that kill the roots of the hair. Unlike many technologies that are inefficient at killing the follicle, the Palomar laser hair removal system permanently prevents hair from growing back. Most areas of the body can be treated, as long as the hair has color (melanin). Typical areas treated are legs, bikini line, face, neck, back, arms, chest, etc.
Your provider will move the “self-cooling” handpiece over your skin, pulsing as it travels. The device pulses as it travels and each pulse will send a frequency of light through your skin to the hair follicle. A flashing light, an audible tone and a mild sensation on the skin will make you aware of an active treatment. Treatments are done at 4 to 6 week intervals. Minimal or no sun exposure should be observed during the treatment process.
Immediately after treatment you may see some slight to mild redness of the skin and it may feel warm. This usually lasts 2 to 24 hours. The treated hair will continue to fall out over the next 7 to 30 days post treatment.
At any given time, some of your hair is not in a phase of active growth. Therefore, you will need more than one treatment to affect the growth of unwanted hair. Typically, a full course of therapy is 5 to 6 treatments to ensure permanent hair reduction.
If you are interested in regaining a more youthful glow to your skin, Palomar Starlux® laser skin resurfacing may be the solution for you. As we age, our skin can become wrinkled, uneven in tone and can lose its elasticity. During laser skin resurfacing, the laser is used to remove layers of damaged and wrinkled skin, which can also significantly improve the skin’s tightness and firmness.
At Sacramento Ear, Nose and Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center, we use the most current fractional laser technology – the Palomar Starlux® 1540 and Lux 1440. This phenomenal technology delivers light in an array of narrowed focused “microbeams” to create columns of coagulation within the skin. These columns initiate a natural healing process that stimulates the formation of collagen and new healthy tissue. This will help eliminate your fine lines and wrinkles, decrease pore size, and tighten your skin to give it a healthier look. Almost any area of your body can be treated, including your face, chest, arms and hands.
The laser device sends light pulses into the epidermis and dermis, while leaving the stratum corneum in place. This allows for healthy tissue to survive, which allows for a quick recovery. Downtime with the Palomar Starlux® laser skin resurfacing is 24 to 48 hours, as compared to a week with intense peels or use of CO2 devices, which can have a downtime of 10 days or more.
You will experience some redness, swelling, or tightness to the treated area, which usually lessens within a few hours of the treatment. The skin may often have a pinkish tone for 2 to 5 days. A series of treatments at 3 to 6 week intervals may be required to achieve the desired results.
